HR Generalist

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an HR Generalist for our partner, a growing hospitality organization with a dynamic, people-focused environment in Los Angeles, CA . This is a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity that is onsite Monday through Friday . POSITION OVERVIEW This is an exciting opportunity for a hands‑on HR professional to take ownership of day‑to‑day human resources operations while supporting a growing employee population. The HR Generalist will oversee payroll administration while also supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, training, and HR process development. The ideal candidate enjoys working independently, brings strong HR systems skills, and is energized by the opportunity to help build structure and scalable people practices within a growing organization. PERKS Competitive compensation of $35–$45 per hour , with potential flexibility based on experience Temp‑to‑hire opportunity with the potential for long‑term growth Benefits available during the temporary assignment through Scion Staffing RESPONSIBILITIES Own and coordinate biweekly payroll administration , including reviewing timecards, PTO, employee changes, payroll inputs, and supporting documentation to ensure timely and accurate processing. Manage day‑to‑day HR operations, including employee relations, compliance, personnel documentation, workers' compensation, leaves, return‑to‑work processes, and employee support. Partner with managers on recruiting needs, candidate interviews, onboarding, orientation, performance matters, attendance concerns, and other employee‑related needs. Support ongoing hiring initiatives and workforce growth across multiple operational teams while maintaining an organized and positive candidate and employee experience. Develop and improve HR processes, policies, documentation, training materials, and manager resources to support consistent and compliant practices. Serve as a trusted HR resource by listening objectively to workplace concerns, gathering relevant information, maintaining confidentiality, and providing thoughtful guidance and recommendations. QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated experience independently managing a broad range of HR responsibilities, including payroll administration and employee relations. Strong hands‑on payroll experience supporting an hourly workforce; experience with Paylocity or a comparable payroll/HRIS platform is highly valued. Experience within hospitality, restaurants, food service, retail, or another fast‑paced, employee‑focused environment is strongly preferred. Strong computer and technology proficiency, including comfort working with spreadsheets, HR systems, reporting, documentation, and multiple technology platforms. Excellent organization, attention to detail, discretion, communication, and judgment, with the ability to work independently and effectively support employees and managers. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS This position offers a pay range of $35–$45 per hour , with potential flexibility depending on experience and qualifications. This is a full‑time, temp‑to‑hire opportunity, and eligible temporary employees may access benefits offered through Scion Staffing. The position is onsite in Los Angeles, Monday through Friday, with a consistent daytime schedule.
