Role:
Responsible for the implementation of the HR Strategy including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, turnover and retention. This position also includes campus-wide employee events. This role will also conduct training sessions with hiring managers.

The salary range for this position is $23.69 to $35.54 per hour.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
35%  Posts new job openings and submits applications to hiring managers. Actively recruits candidates for job vacancies. Training hiring managers on applicant tracking system and policies. Trains hiring managers on interviews and policies of hiring committees.
25%  Processes new employee paperwork as well as termination reports. Requests new employee resources as needed.
15%  Conducts new employee orientation and other campus-wide HR events. Works to position Grayson College as a premier employer in Grayson County. Attends job fairs.
10%  Conducts pre-employment screenings such as criminal background and drug testing for drivers. Updates and maintains approved driver lists.
10%  Responds to employment verification requests and other HR related requests
5%    Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

2. To comply with all federal and state laws and regulations relating to higher education.
3. To effectively communicate with employees, applicants, and others in person, by phone, by letter, and by email..
4. To accurately update employee files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll.
5. To provide informed professional assistance to others in the organization as requested.
6. To interpret laws and tax codes as they relate to human resources procedures. An understanding of DOL regulations, EEOC regulations, HIPAA, FMLA, ERISA, COBRA, and other laws is required.
7. To timely conduct pre-employment screenings such as criminal background, credit investigations, drug testing and pre-employment testing.
8. To promptly handle all long-term disability insurance claims and Worker's Compensation claims and reporting.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience:  Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
• Education:  (1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
• Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
• Other Skills: High level of confidentiality. Exceptional project management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS Systems (Greenshades, Dynamics GP), and Applicant Tracking Systems. Knowledge of TRS/ERS and ORP benefit systems.
• Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to do the work.
• Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office.
