Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant - Hospital Setting

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic team at Well Extremities Rehab and Physical Therapy, located in the heart of Warwick, New York. In this full-time, onsite role, you will play a crucial part in the rehabilitation journey of patients recovering from various injuries, surgeries, and chronic conditions. Working under the supervision of a Physical Therapist (PT), you will assist in the implementation of personalized treatment plans designed to facilitate optimal recovery and improve patients' quality of life.

Work Environment

As a PTA at our Warwick facility, you will work in a hospital setting equipped with state-of-the-art rehabilitation technology and tools designed for effective patient care. The environment is fast-paced yet nurturing, allowing for the delivery of high-quality therapy while also ensuring the safety and comfort of all patients. Your work schedule will typically be from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM, providing a consistent routine that helps maintain a balanced work-life structure.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement patient-specific physical therapy treatment plans as developed by the supervising Physical Therapist, ensuring adherence to protocols that align with clinical standards.
• Guide patients through a variety of therapeutic exercises tailored to their specific recovery goals. This may include resistance training, stretching, and mobility enhancement techniques.
• Monitor patient progress closely, documenting observations and responses to interventions accurately to inform adjustments in treatment strategies.
• Educate patients on effective movement techniques, self-managed home exercise programs, and methods for preventing future injuries.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions, employing monitoring techniques that reassure patients and enhance their experience.
• Collaboratively engage with Physical Therapists, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to provide cohesive and comprehensive care for our patients.
• Maintain precise and timely documentation that complies with HIPAA regulations and insurance guidelines, ensuring all patient records are up-to-date.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with diverse populations, including individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, and a variety of chronic conditions, such as arthritis and neurological disorders. Your contributions will directly impact their rehabilitation progress, instilling confidence and providing necessary support throughout their recovery path.

Qualifications

• An Associate's Degree in Physical Therapist Assisting from a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) accredited program
• A valid Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license to practice in New York State
• A solid understanding of therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation protocols, with a focus on patient-centered care
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and engage with patients
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, specifically Web PT, is an advantage

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of two years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a hospital or clinical environment is preferred

Compensation and Benefits
