Welder -- Multiple Shifts Open

This role involves welding and fabricating structural and miscellaneous members, including columns, beams, trusses, vertical and horizontal bracing, stairs, rails, ladders, and frames.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on various structural components.

• Read and interpret blueprints to input layouts for machines.

• Lift materials weighing over 50 pounds.

• Weld flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead (1G–4G) positions.

• Follow AWS D1.1 or similar structural steel welding codes.

• Prepare joints through proper fitting, beveling, cleaning, and backing installation.

• Control heat by managing amperage, travel speed, and weld sequence to prevent distortion.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in SMAW (stick), FCAW (flux-cored), and MIG welding.

• Ability to read blueprints and layouts.

• Experience with structural welding processes.

• Capability to perform welding to structural codes.

• Understanding of joint preparation and heat control.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Pass a Horizontal 2G weld test in the specified process.

• 6+ months of experience in reading blueprints and using tape measures.

• 6+ months of experience with hand tools.

• 6+ months of hand welding experience (not production welding).

• A job tenure of 6 months to 1 year in the most recent job or jobs with 1+ year tenure.

• Preferred 6+ months experience in structural welding.

Work Environment

The work environment is dirty and does not have air conditioning. The team consists of 40 individuals working on the floor. The first shift is from 6 AM to 4:30 PM, and the second shift is from 3:30 PM to 2 AM, with some Saturday overtime, especially during the busy summer and early fall seasons. The second shift does not require Saturday work. The dress code includes steel-toed shoes, jeans, layers as needed, and safety glasses.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
