Family Law AttorneyPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney to join our firms litigation team. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload involving divorce, child custody, spousal support, and matters involving the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P). This role requires courtroom experience handling fact-finding and summary hearings, permanency hearings, Dodd removals, Title 30 proceedings, OAL appeals, and trials. The attorney will advocate for clients, draft pleadings, conduct legal research, and collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcomes for families.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a full caseload of family law matters including divorce, child custody, child support, and spousal support actions.Represent clients in DCP&P matters, including Title 30 proceedings, fact-finding hearings, permanency hearings, and Dodd removal hearings.Prepare for and litigate summary hearings, trial, and related court appearances; develop case strategy, file motions, and examine witnesses.Handle administrative appeals before the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) and prepare appellate submissions as needed.Advocate for clients in domestic violence matters and coordinate with victim services and community resources when appropriate.Draft and review pleadings, discovery, settlement agreements, parenting plans, proposed orders, and memoranda of law.Conduct legal research and maintain current knowledge of family law statutes, case law, and procedural rules relevant to DCP&P and Title 30 practice.Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and agencies; manage client expectations and provide regular case updates.Negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolution when appropriate to resolve matters efficiently and favorably for clients.Maintain accurate case files, billing records, and adhere to ethical and professional standards in all client interactions.QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in NJMinimum 3 years of litigation experience in family law; preference for candidates with extensive DCP&P/Title 30 experience.Demonstrated courtroom experience with fact-finding hearings, summary hearings, permanency hearings, and jury or bench trials.Experience handling Dodd removals and administrative appeals before the Office of Administrative Law (OAL).Strong knowledge of child custody, child support, spousal support, and domestic violence law and procedures.Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills; proven ability to draft pleadings, motions, and appellate briefs.Ability to manage a heavy caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to client needs and case detail.Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work with vulnerable populations and multidisciplinary teams.Valid drivers license and reliable transportation preferred for client meetings, home visits, and court appearances.Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice; participation in continuing legal education related to family law is a plus.Benefits" 401(k)" Dental insurance" Flexible schedule" Flexible spending account" Health insurance" Life insurance" Paid time off" Parental leave" Retirement plan" Vision insurance
