Position Description Health & Safety Coordinator develops, implements, and monitors workplace safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), prevent accidents, and promote a safe environment. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, delivering safety training, investigating incidents, maintaining required records such as OSHA 300 Log, managing personal protective equipment (PPE), and collaborating with management and safety teams. Key duties also involve performing risk assessment, enforcing safety policies, supporting emergency planning, and fostering a strong safety culture through training and communication. The role requires coordinating day‑to‑day operations effectively in a fast‑paced environment while working independently and meeting critical deadlines. Duties And Responsibilities Creates and oversees safety programs, emergency action plans—including egress—and site‑specific protocols; creates and maintains a project‑tracking log that documents Notice to Proceed (NTP) dates, contractors and subcontractors names, project start and end dates, and the assigned Project Manager. Maintains records (OSHA logs, incident reports, SDSs), ensures compliance posters are displayed, and reports to management/risk management. Ensures management and continuous availability of PPE for employees, including maintaining inventory logs, monitoring stock levels, and coordinating timely issuance. Interacts with other staff members to review and monitor construction contracts, agreements, and other legal documents ensuring documentation and compliance requirements. Acts as a primary contact between employees, supervisors, management, contractors, and subcontractors through enforcement of OSHA, State, and Federal standards. Designs and delivers safety training for employees on topics including hazard recognition, proper PPE use, and emergency procedures while maintaining accurate training records within Quickbase Health & Safety database. Manages incident and accident details as reported by contractors and subcontractors, documenting details of accidents, injuries, and near‑miss events, conducting root‑cause reviews, and recommending appropriate corrective actions. Requirements Education and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution. Experience Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in an administrative or coordinator role. Preferred Progressively responsible experience in construction safety, occupational health, safety administration and training, or infrastructure project compliance. Hands‑on experience enforcing OSHA standards in multi‑contractor environments. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Ability to provide specialized administrative support. Advanced knowledge of personal computer, utilizing software such as Outlook, Word, Excel in a Microsoft Windows environment, and PowerPoint. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality, judgment, personal responsibility, and dependability. Ability to work independently with only general direction and utilizing established policies and objectives. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain professional attitude and interact with all office personnel at all levels including consultants and stakeholders. Ability to be dependable and maintain good attendance. Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks effectively and timely to meet critical time deadlines. Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals. Physical Demands Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work. General Information This is a full‑time position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday. Hours may vary based on business needs of the department. Emergency situations may require additional hours. This position is considered essential personnel and is subject to being held over or working extra shifts as needed during times of emergency, declared disasters, or to support critical business functions and provide services for the benefit of the public while other governmental offices may be closed.
