Systems Engineer

Salary: $114,000 - 142,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in aeronautical, aerospace, electrical, systems, or a related engineering field, plus 7–10 years of relevant industry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Extensive experience in a high-performing engineering environment and demonstrated success leading programs through requirements-based systems engineering practices.
• Experience translating customer or marketing needs into multidisciplinary engineering requirements; aviation analysis, design, and development experience is preferred.
• Experience with phase-gate product development, clean-sheet programs, and validation and verification in regulated industries.
• Experience with safety hazard analysis, failure modes and effects analysis, and related standards, including MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-1629A, IEC 60812, and AS13004; familiarity with reliability analysis, planning, and testing.
• Familiarity with relevant engineering standards and guidance, including DO-160, DO-254, DO-178C, IEEE 15288, SAE ARP 4754, ISO and IEC standards, the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook, and the NASA Systems Engineering Handbook.
• A record of delivering complex programs on schedule and within budget.
• Strong business judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with a professional, team-oriented approach.
• Experience with CAD software; SolidWorks or AutoCAD is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and with SysML platforms such as Eclipse with Papyrus SysML or Siemens Polarion.
• INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP) certification required; a Professional Engineer license is preferred.
• A Professional Engineer license and/or a masters degree in electrical, systems, aeronautical, aerospace, engineering management, or a related field is preferred.

• During the NPI proposal phase, partner with Sales and Business Development to provide technical leadership for commercial and military projects, supporting compliance with budget, schedule, and performance goals.
• Lead and coordinate requirements capture, documentation, and management across airframe, subsystem, and component levels, working with mechanical and electrical engineering teams and tailoring processes to project complexity.
• Work with customers at project initiation to architect subsystems and components.
• Define and manage system and subsystem requirements and interface control documents in SysML.
• Partner with Project Engineering to facilitate feasibility and conceptual System Requirements Reviews, align customer aircraft and system needs with internal subsystems, and maintain complete, accurate project specifications throughout the lifecycle.
• Develop technical quotes for Engineering Support Requests and project requirements.
• During the NPI planning phase, lead requirements decomposition—including applicable regulatory and customer requirements—to component and functional levels with project, electrical, mechanical, and certification engineering teams.
• Review compliance approaches and verification plans to ensure appropriate documentation and artifacts are produced.
• Review risk assessments and requirements prioritization, and lead project risk management activities, including safety hazard analysis, system safety assessment, FMEA, and FMECA as needed.
• During execution, help Project Engineering maintain budgets and schedule milestones through adherence to documented requirements and management of change requests; provide quotes to Project Managers and Marketing when requested by engineering leadership.
• Identify specialized staffing and technical needs in coordination with engineering, certification, and ODA leaders; help determine project resourcing and request technical resources from the Engineering Manager.
• During certification, assess the effectiveness of engineering compliance methods, oversee and document testing activities and results, and support ODA and Manufacturing testing as needed.
• Coordinate with affected stakeholders, including suppliers, test houses, end users, management, and customers; develop test statements of work where required and follow up on certification and ODA activities to support timely STC project closure.
• Serve as a technical leader, influencing team outcomes without direct hiring, firing, or compensation responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned and maintain dependable attendance; work overtime as required and travel as needed.
