Radiology Technologist

In this position, the Radiologic Technologist performs radiographic procedures to obtain desired radiographic results according to physicians' specifications. This includes transferring patients for examinations and utilizing ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, as well as assisting with the x-ray examination process. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic x-ray procedures and ensuring the appropriate operation of all x-ray imaging and related equipment. The technologist is responsible for appropriately educating, positioning, and immobilizing patients during x-ray procedures. Coordination of x-ray examinations is essential to ensure timeliness, quality, and continuity of patient care. The technologist must understand and correctly follow provider imaging orders. Required images and related clinical information should be submitted to the radiologist for interpretation. An essential duty includes appropriately evaluating image quality. Open, accurate, and responsive communication is necessary with patients, coworkers, radiologists, and leadership. The technologist is responsible for utilizing, charging, and maintaining department supplies. Practicing sterile technique and following infection prevention policies is critical. The ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines is fundamental. Safe performance of x-ray procedures includes proper patient transfer. Preparation and administration of contrast according to radiologist protocol are required. Following radiation safety measures (ALARA) is necessary to ensure patient and staff safety. The technologist will also supervise and evaluate student radiographers in the clinical setting.
