Billing & Collection Specialist

WE ARE CURRENTLY IN NEED OF A MEDICAL BILLING AND ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE SPECIALIST. Advanced Allergy and Asthma Centers is a pediatric and adult specialty practice, established in 2013. We are a specialty (allergy) practice, so our billing specialist will need to have had prior experience with specialty billing, modifiers, etc. We offer health insurance (dental, vision and medical) to full time (35 hours per week) employees and 40`1K/profit sharing to part time and full time employees.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepares and submits clean claims to third party payers either electronically or by paper.
• Maintains relationship with clearinghouse, including appropriate follow-up with support issues.
• Coordinate collection process, to include any projects from Meditab accounts
• Manage monthly statement process, to include reviewing statements before mailing and field any patient inquiries the Receptionists need to escalate.
• Work with reception staff, ensure appropriate collection of co-pays, and self-pay fees.
• Handles patient inquiries and answers questions from clinical staff, receptionist and insurance companies.
• Identifies and resolves patient billing problems.
• Denial and insurance follow-up management.
• Issues adjusted, corrected, and/or rebilled claims to third party payers.
• Posts adjustments, transfer of responsibility and refunds, as necessary.
• Reviews accounts and makes recommendations to the Practice Administrator regarding non collectible accounts.
• Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

Job Requirements

• Knowledge of medical billing / collection practices required
• Strong keyboard skills.

• Capable of making timely, independent decisions.

Experience

• Previous medical billing experience including knowledge of billing related reporting; 3 - 5 years’ experience in health-care billing & collection practices, preferably with an FQHC,
• Experience working with medical payers including Medicare, and commercial insurance,
• Working knowledge of medical billing systems, particularly Meditab,
• Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 & ICD-10 coding systems; Coding certification preferred,
• Excellent organizational skills, and
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
