Retail Finance Director for AI Training

Retail Finance Directors apply their experience in long-range financial planning and budget management to evaluate AI-generated content and improve AI understanding of retail finance workflows, budget variance analysis, and strategic planning practices. This contract role is project-based and flexible, designed for senior retail finance professionals who can contribute practical, hands-on knowledge to training and evaluating AI outputs.

• Use your professional experience and the actual tools and workflows from your daily work to create expert-level training data.
• Review AI-generated responses for accuracy, relevance, and alignment with retail finance best practices.
• Provide detailed, actionable feedback that helps refine AI behavior around long-range financial planning, budget management, and variance analysis.
• Document examples, edge cases, and clarifications to support ongoing model improvement.
• Collaborate asynchronously with research teams and follow project-specific instructions for labeling and evaluation.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in senior retail finance leadership, in roles such as Finance Director, VP of Finance, CFO, or an equivalent senior finance role within the retail industry.
• Hands-on experience with strategic finance workflows, including long-range financial planning and budget variance analysis.
• Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with research teams.
• No prior AI experience is required; domain expertise and practical finance experience are the primary requirements.

• Engagement type: hourly, contract, project-based, not a traditional full-time employment role.
• Location: fully remote.
• Schedule: flexible, asynchronous, with no minimum hour requirement; contributors typically work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
• This is ongoing, project-based work that can be done alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.
• Placement is dependent on current project needs; being selected for one project does not guarantee immediate placement on subsequent projects, but contributors may be considered for future opportunities as they arise.

Pay is hourly, up to $80/hr (depending on the project).

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Work with your Designated School Official to confirm whether this work meets your school’s requirements.
• If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this project may not satisfy that requirement. STEM OPT is not supported.
• Confirm that your work authorization allows you to engage in independent contractor, hourly project work before applying.
