Job Summary Position: Restaurant Server Job Type: Part-Time Schedule: Flexible, nights and weekends Salary: Hourly plus tips Responsibilities Maintain line of sight/atmosphere control by circulating through your work area during shift Follow House of Blues safety, health, and sanitation standards Assist other employees as needed Follow opening, running, and closing procedures, checking out with manager on duty Adhere to all HOB policies and procedures Ensure responsible alcohol service per local ordinance and HOB alcohol policies__ Request proper identification for anyone appearing under 30 years of age Recognize when guests are becoming too intoxicated and refuse further service of alcohol in a courteous and safety-minded manner, bringing it to the attention of a manager Cash handling; bank procedures (cash pull/check out) and payment processing (on point of sales terminal) for both cash and/or credit transactions Required to occasionally work special events scheduled within the venue Have knowledge of all menu items, music, promotional or special events in the house Inform guests of daily specials and make recommendations to suggestively sell menu Provide exceptional guest service by anticipating guest needs, answering guest questions taking guest orders, ensuring items are correct, delivering items timely and appropriately resolving any guest complaints Pre-bus tables: remove dirty plates, glasses, etc., from table once guest has finished Qualifications Required: Applicants for employment in the U.S. must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa Attention to detail Positive attitude Teamwork; work well with others, in a high-volume and sometimes stressful environment Keep a clean, well-groomed appearance Punctual attendance with a flexible schedule including nights and weekends Tolerance of all cultures, music, and art forms Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification or Equivalent (paid training will be provided) Ability to handle multiple tables at one time efficiently and with an upbeat, friendly attitude while anticipating guest needs Preferred: High School diploma or equivalent Experience in a high volume, fast paced work environment__ Experience recognizing valid ID’s Cash handling experience__ Beer, wine & liquor knowledge, current with latest drink trends Point of Sales knowledge, preferably MICROS Physical Demands / Working Environment Willing to commute to downtown area (discounted $7 parking available daily) Working environment is fast paced, can be hot, and/or loud Position requires extended periods of prolonged standing and/or working on your feet Must be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs. using proper lifting techniques Equal Employment Opportunity We are passionate and committed to our people and go beyond the rhetoric of diversity and inclusion.
