Certified Dietary Manager

About the Role:

The Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) plays a critical role in overseeing the dietary operations within healthcare facilities, long-term care centers, or food service establishments across the United States. This position ensures that all meals meet nutritional standards, comply with regulatory requirements, and accommodate the specific dietary needs of residents or clients. The CDM manages food preparation, inventory, and staff to maintain high-quality service and safety standards. They collaborate closely with dietitians, healthcare professionals, and kitchen staff to develop menus that promote health and wellness. Ultimately, the role aims to enhance the overall dining experience while supporting the health and well-being of those served.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certification as a Dietary Manager (CDM) through an accredited program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and nutrition principles.
• Experience in food service management or dietary operations.
• Ability to pass a background check and any required health screenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree or higher in nutrition, dietetics, food service management, or a related field.
• Experience working in healthcare or long-term care settings.
• Familiarity with electronic dietary management systems and software.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Additional certifications such as ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, direct, and coordinate food service operations to ensure compliance with nutrition and safety standards.
• Manage dietary staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
• Develop and implement menus that meet the nutritional needs of residents or clients, considering special dietary restrictions and preferences.
• Monitor food quality, portion control, and sanitation practices to maintain high standards of food safety and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain inventory control, order supplies, and manage budgets to optimize operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure dietary plans align with medical requirements and individual care plans.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to food service and safety.
