Operations Manager

Summary:

Lead plant operations to ensure safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant operation of generating equipment. Manage operations personnel, procedures, training, plant performance, outages, regulatory compliance, and operational reporting under the direction of the General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Operations Shift teams to meet generation, safety, efficiency, and environmental requirements.
• Develop and maintain normal, start-up, shutdown, abnormal, and emergency operating procedures.
• Monitor plant performance; investigate abnormalities, incidents, and forced outages and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with NERC, environmental, safety, regulatory, and operating requirements.
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop Operations personnel and ensure adherence to procedures and safety practices.
• Establish operational goals, employee accountabilities, and improvement plans.
• Prepare operating, outage, and departmental reports; support operating and capital budgets.
• Provide operational input to maintenance and assist with equipment troubleshooting.
• Coordinate plant training and standardize best practices across shifts.
• Support EHS programs and plant safety initiatives.
• Act as primary Operations contact with PJM Lead Market Participant and Transmission Operator for non-real-time production matters.
• Oversee Operations responsibilities for NERC Reliability Standards, including BES events, relay operations, and required reporting.
• Maintain knowledge of GADs reporting, Microsoft Office, and Maximo CMMS. DCS and combustion turbine experience preferred.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of power plant or similar experience, including a minimum of 5 years of power plant operating experience.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience managing technical, supervisory, and administrative personnel.
• Bachelor s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and motivational skills.
• Knowledge of plant operations, safety, environmental compliance, NERC requirements, and regulatory reporting.
• Valid driver s license and ability to work in a power-generation facility environment.
• Ability to work around heat, noise, steam, combustible gases, rotating machinery, hazardous materials, and toxic fumes.
• Occasional overnight travel required.
