Description:
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound.
This role utilizes high frequency sound waves to assist medical personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities.
Responsible for performing procedures according to departmental format and completing exams in the allotted time.
Daily clerical duties including the use of electronic health record systems and patient scheduling are required.
Performs portable ultrasound exams as needed.
Conducts complex technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound to detect abnormalities such as masses and stones.
Assists physicians with biopsy studies and color-flow ultrasound as required.
Determines, prepares, and sets up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining procedures and positioning them for each anatomical view.
Evaluates the technical quality of images and processes images of conditions in accordance with standard procedures.
Maintains records of ultrasound exams and archives data as necessary.
Calibrates, cleans, and performs routine maintenance on ultrasound equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Responsible for cleaning and sterilizing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Stocks and replenishes supplies as needed.
Provides technical assistance and instruction to students and medical residents.
Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs, pushes and pulls 50 lbs, and stands for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
Greets patients upon arrival for their exams utilizing professional standards.
Adheres to policies regarding attendance and punctuality.
Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies care as necessary.
Participates in quality control and assurance programs to maintain image quality.
Maintains compliance with safety, infection, and emergency policy procedures.
Familiar with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) for efficient workflow.
Assists with ultrasound-guided interventions while ensuring patient care and maintaining sterile technique.
Participates in continuing education to maintain CEU credits.
