Assistant Principal (336655L) Reports to: Principal Supervises: None Term of Employment: 10, 11, or 12 months Salary: State Salary Schedule Plus Local Supplement FLSA Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt Qualifications Classroom Teaching Experience required Eligibility for North Carolina Principal Licensure is required Essential Job Functions Assists in the implementation of student orientation, registration and scheduling Assists in ensuring that the district mission statement and the School Improvement Plan are carried out and adhered to by all stakeholders Assists in the evaluation of the school program and staff and initiates needed improvements using the staff evaluation instrument adopted by the State of North Carolina Assists the principal in involving staff in setting budget priorities Acts to upgrade own professional knowledge and skills Assists in the preparation and management of budgets and schedules and coordinates and implements the co‑curricular program Uses and promotes technological tools Defines and disseminates information about school disciplinary policies and procedures to parents, students, staff, and the community Communicates and carries out established policies, delegates responsibilities, and communicates program goals, objectives and policies to the community Supervises and maintains auxiliary services and uses community resources to supplement the school program Promotes open communication, positive student attitudes, respects the dignity and worth of staff and students, and complies with established lines of authority Completes records and reports in the supervision and inventory of necessary supplies, textbooks, equipment and materials Performs other duties assigned by the supervisor Physical and Cognitive Requirements Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
