Job Title: Toddler Teacher Department: Early Childhood Education Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Infant & Toddler Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 17 months to 2.8 years old. This role includes planning and implementing engaging learning experiences, supporting children’s social-emotional development, and maintaining strong communication with families. The teacher ensures high‐quality care that aligns with early childhood best practices, licensing regulations, and program standards.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plan using the CTELD's guide and activities that support cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth for toddlers.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that promotes exploration and independence.

Build warm, responsive, and trusting relationships with children and families.

Must be able to use Ages & Stages for assessment of children.

Observe, document, and assess children’s development to inform instruction and meet individual needs.

Collaborate with teaching team members to create consistent routines and positive guidance strategies.

Communicate daily with families about children’s experiences, milestones, and needs.

Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and program policies.

Participate in professional development, team meetings, and ongoing training to support continuous improvement.

Support inclusive practices and adapt interactions and activities to meet diverse needs and abilities.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a closely related field.

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred (or required, if applicable to your program).

Experience working with infants and toddlers in an early childhood or childcare setting.

Knowledge of child development principles, responsive caregiving, and developmentally appropriate practice.

Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to meet all state background check and health requirements.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with state Early Learning Standards and assessment systems.

Training in CPR/First Aid, safe sleep, and trauma-informed care.

Ability to create inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environments.

Working Conditions

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and engage in floor-level interaction with children.

Active, fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and multitasking.
