Special Education Teacher (Middle School) - Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support middle school students in a self-contained classroom setting . This full-time position is 35 hours per week , with a work schedule of 8:30 AM - 4:10 PM . The Special Education Teacher will provide individualized instruction, develop and implement IEP goals, and create a positive, supportive learning environment that promotes academic, social, and behavioral success for students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students in a self-contained middle school special education classroom.

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

• Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet students' unique needs.

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.

• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student achievement.

• Implement behavior management strategies and foster a structured, inclusive learning environment.

• Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development activities.

• Support students' social-emotional growth and promote independence and life skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.

• Active state Special Education teaching certification/license.

• Experience working with middle school-aged students preferred.

• Strong knowledge of IEP development, special education regulations, and differentiated instruction.

• Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

Schedule: 35 hours per week

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred

• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations

• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred

• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
