Line Cook

Job Duties

A line cook prepares ingredients, cooks, and plates menu items according to restaurant recipes in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include managing a specific station (grill, sauté, fry), maintaining strict food safety/sanitation standards, and ensuring consistent food quality. They must possess strong communication skills, speed, and teamwork abilities.

• Food Preparation & Cooking: Prep, chop, sauce, and cook food items (meats, vegetables, sauces) quickly and accurately using various kitchen equipment like grills, fryers, and ovens.

• Station Management: Set up, stock, and maintain cleanliness of assigned stations (e.g., pantry, grill) throughout the shift.

• Consistency & Quality: Follow established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation specifications to ensure consistent, high-quality dishes.

• Sanitation & Safety: Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards (e.g., ServSafe) and maintain a "clean as you go" approach to prevent cross-contamination.

• Teamwork & Communication: Work collaboratively with other cooks and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: Previous experience as a cook in a professional kitchen is generally required.

• Cooking Skills: Strong knowledge of various cooking methods (grilling, frying, baking, etc.).

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, work in high-temperature environments, and lift heavy items.

• Multitasking: Ability to work efficiently in a high-speed, high-stress environment.
