General Summary of Position
Our organization is dedicated to delivering exceptional and compassionate care to every patient at every interaction. All team members play a vital role in upholding patient experience standards. This role encompasses both clinical and administrative responsibilities within our healthcare settings, adhering to established policies and procedures. Under the guidance of a physician, the individual will conduct patient intake, follow standing orders or protocols, perform venipuncture, conduct laboratory tests, and manage patient follow-ups. Additionally, the role includes administering oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal medications as prescribed, following competency validation by the Clinical Professional Development Specialist or their delegate. Clinical Care Specialists (CCSs) who are certified Radiologic Technologists will also be responsible for performing and transmitting X-ray diagnostic images. Accurate documentation in the medical record is essential, as is supporting efficient patient flow.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in achieving departmental goals and objectives while adhering to policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with governmental and accreditation requirements.
• Follow the organization's Code of Conduct and Compliance plan; adhere to governmental and accreditation guidelines, completing all required training, including but not limited to safety, infection control, OSHA, CPR, EMR, general compliance, harassment, and service.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of equipment, as well as prepare patient rooms for care delivery.
• Provide patient care in accordance with policies, prioritizing patient and employee safety and quality of care.
• Adapt to new technologies and utilize the electronic health record effectively.
• Manage patient flow through consistent communication with patients and families, demonstrating genuine concern for their time and comfort.
• Conduct various tests and provide care within the scope of practice, including spirometry/PFTs, vital signs, BMI, EKGs, vision and hearing tests, splinting, and general patient care under medical supervision.
• Make follow-up calls to patients regarding lab tests, patient experiences, and clinical results in a professional manner.
• Perform venipuncture and selected laboratory tests (point of care); initiate care pathways as per policy.
• Conduct X-rays as per medical provider orders; send images to the appropriate radiologist for review; maintain X-ray equipment and comply with safety standards.
• Foster a respectful environment for patients, families, vendors, colleagues, and employers. Maintain professionalism in all communications.
• Deliver care that aligns with our mission, vision, and values, fostering patient confidence and loyalty by exceeding expectations.
• Act as a patient escort throughout the care process and assist with patient discharge, ensuring clarity for patients and their family members.
• Support new clinical and service initiatives; actively seek opportunities to enhance care and the patient experience.
• Assist team members during busy periods or delays in patient processing. Understand and engage in basic computer and patient intake tasks at the front desk.
• Support medical providers in patient examinations, testing, and education.
• Under medical supervision, prepare and administer oral medications and injections (limited to intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular) after demonstrating competency to the Clinical Professional Development Specialist or their delegate.
• Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

Minimum QualificationsEducation

• Associate's degree is required.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program is required.

Experience

• Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting is required.
• 1-2 years of experience in a medical office is preferred.
• One year of relevant professional experience may substitute for one year of required education.

Licenses and Certifications

• ARRT Certification is required.
• A Maryland, Virginia, or DC State License in Medical Radiation is required, depending on the job location.
• CPR certification (including BLS and NRP) from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must be obtained within 90 days.
• Additional unit or specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Clinical competency must be verified during the initial 90-day orientation period and annually thereafter.
• Strong customer service and patient interaction skills.
• Proficient in computer and electronic medical record systems, with the ability to adapt to various clinical environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from USD $29.73 to USD $53.49.
