MRI TechnologistDepartment: General MRISchedule: Part Time, Day/Evening Shift (60 hours biweekly)Hours: Saturday/Sunday (8a-8p), One 6 hour day or evening shift during the week.Rotation: Holiday call (8a-10p)General SummaryPerforms routine and special magnetic resonance imaging procedures. Performs procedures to produce MR images of designated anatomical areas according to established practices and procedures. Performs duties as on call technologist, is able to train new staff, and has passed the MRI advanced level specialty exam as per ARRT.ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:Performs MR imaging studies; obtains patient history; explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns.Under the direct supervision of the physician, administers intravenous contrast media. Recognizes complications (e.g., contrast reaction) and treats appropriately.Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.Positions and transfers patients comfortably.Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices MRI safety procedures.Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.Common Expectations:Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment.
