School Crossing Guard- Afternoons

Overview Bedford Public Schools invites applications for the position of Crossing Guard. The district is seeking a part-time School Crossing Guard for morning and/or afternoon shifts. The Crossing Guard directs vehicular and pedestrian traffic at assigned crossings to protect school children and to provide for the orderly movement of traffic. Responsibilities Report directly to assigned crossing stations. Be on time, properly uniformed and equipped. Remain at crossing station until the conclusion of the assignment. Ensure that children use the proper crossing locations and that no children are in the street while traffic is moving. Be alert for present or potential traffic hazards in the area surrounding the assigned crossings. Submit to the Safety Officer a written report of any hazards with a recommendation for remedial steps. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. CPR certification (department will provide training). Familiarity with applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations and procedures for directing traffic is a plus. Ability to work outside in a variety of weather and temperature conditions. Hours and Compensation The morning shift is 10 hours per week, with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday from 7:15 am to 9:15 am. The afternoon shift is 10 hours per week with a typical schedule of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and Wednesday from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Pay rate: $21.81 per hour.
