Compensation: $19.00 – $24.00 Hourly

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 1st shift: 6AM - 430PM 2nd shift: 4PM - 330AM (Some OT and weekend work required)

Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Fitter/Welder to join our fast-paced production team. In this hands-on role, you will drive the precision layout, fit-up, and structural assembly of heavy metal components before executing final, code-compliant welds. By combining advanced blueprint reading, applied math, and exact joint alignment with strong FCAW welding capabilities, you will ensure every product leaving the shop meets strict dimensional tolerances and quality standards.

What You’ll Do

• Blueprint & Layout Execution: Interpret complex technical drawings, fabrication specs, and weld symbols to perform direct dimensional layouts on raw steel stock.
• Precision Fitting & Alignment: Measure, cut, bevel, shape, and fit heavy metal plates, beams, and components using torches, grinders, and shop machinery.
• Assembly & Tack-Welding: Position, clamp, and tack-weld fitted components into structural assemblies, maintaining strict squareness, joint gaps, and alignment.
• Structural Welding: Execute high-quality FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) passes on fitted assemblies, ensuring strong penetration and defect-free seams.
• Fit-Up Quality Control: Perform rigorous dimensional checks with framing squares, protractors, calipers, and tape measures to ensure zero fit-up defects prior to and after welding.
• Equipment Care & Safety: Safely operate overhead cranes, burning equipment, press brakes, and welding tools while maintaining an organized, safe workspace.

What You Bring

• Dual Expertise: Proven experience as a Fitter/Welder with a strong focus on custom layout and joint fit-up in heavy manufacturing, structural steel, or industrial fabrication.
• Blueprint & Math Skills: Exceptional blueprint reading ability, weld symbol fluency, and practical application of shop geometry and trigonometry.
• Welding & Cutting Proficiency: Strong command of FCAW processes, oxy-fuel/plasma cutting torches, beveling tools, and fit-up clamps.
• Education & Credentials: High school diploma or equivalent. AWS Certified Welder or practical familiarity with AWS D1.1 structural welding codes is preferred.
• Safety Focus: Strict adherence to shop safety protocols, PPE usage, and safe rigging/material handling practices.
