Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately perform and verify routine and esoteric laboratory tests with minimal supervision.
• Manage reagent preparation and analyzer troubleshooting efficiently.
• Conduct quality control procedures consistently, documenting any failures and corrective actions.
• Prioritize workload to meet testing requests promptly and maintain department productivity.
• Communicate critical results to healthcare providers promptly and document accordingly.
• Assist in training new staff and updating procedural manuals to ensure compliance and competency.
• Perform ongoing assessments of specimen quality and troubleshoot issues for both in-house and reference testing.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or a related scientific field is required.

Experience: No prior experience required for registered Medical Lab Scientists; non-registered candidates should have at least one year of clinical laboratory experience.

Certification/License: Must hold MT, MLS, M, C, H, or BB certification and meet CMS technical supervisor requirements.

Mental and Physical Requirements: This role demands close mental and visual attention for extended periods, the ability to work under time-sensitive and stressful conditions, and physical capability to lift up to 20 lbs. The position involves frequent movement throughout the department and laboratory workstations.

Working Conditions: Exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious materials is constant. The work environment is air-conditioned with moderate noise levels, and shifts may vary throughout the day.
