Equipment Operator I Full Time Employee Gainesville, GA, US 3 days ago Requisition ID: 2891 Salary Range: $18.57 To $23.42 Hourly Job Summary : Operates medium sized equipment, including forklifts and bobcats and performs manual labor in the Recycling Center. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Complete pre-operation and post-operation inspections on all equipment. Operate forklift in a safe and productive manner to move and stack bales, load and unload trucks, swap out hoppers, etc. Also, to move utility trailers, remove electronics from the electronic bins and operate a cascade forklift to empty containers that require rotation to empty. Maintain the glass product to a safe level by filling the glass cans for pickup. Maintain visual observation of the baler indicators to assure proper baler operations and notify the tipping floor loader operator of issues when they arise. Maintain documentation of the number of product bales ran daily. Daily cleaning of equipment, blowing out filters, radiator, etc. Maintain safe and clean work areas at all times. Maintain vendor delivered product to the Recycling Center. Daily interaction with haulers and Hall County residents, always providing excellent customer service. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or G.E.D. Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above. Licenses and Certifications Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures. Basic to intermediate knowledge of, and skill in, operating various types of medium sized equipment. Ability to take and follow directions from supervisor. Ability to perform strenuous and routine work. Ability to lift objects of up to 50 pounds.

Additionally, essential functions require frequent attendance at work-related meetings or trainings and maintenance of stamina during the workday. Essential functions of this position occasionally require the ability to move oneself by crawling on hands and knees; position oneself by crouching or kneeling; reach overhead; push or pull items; move/transport items weighing up to 25lbs. Additionally incumbents must occasionally be able to discriminate colors; work irregular hours (nights and/or weekends), handle confidential information; and use math/calculations. Sensory Requirements: Essential functions regularly require the ability to use effective verbal communication; use hand/eye coordination and fine manipulation to use tools and equipment. Essential functions of this position frequently require the ability to use effective written communication. Environmental Factors: Essential functions are continuously performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions including inclement weather; extreme hot or cold temperatures; humidity and moisture; risk of bodily injury from hazards of heavy machinery; dirt/mud, fumes, gases, odors, dust, grease and oil. Incumbents may spend time constantly working with others. Essential functions are frequently performed with exposure to risk of bodily injury from hazards of sharp objects/tools; extreme dry environments; extreme noise; vibration; and wet, slippery floors/surfaces. Essential functions are occasionally performed with exposure to risk of bodily injury from hazards of a biological, chemical, or electrical nature, risk of falling from high places/high heights; and working in constricted spaces.
