Sanitation Manager - 2nd shift

The Opportunity: The Sanitation Manager is responsible for leading and executing the site sanitation program to ensure a safe, compliant, and production-ready facility. This role owns sanitation performance, including food safety compliance, environmental monitoring, team leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2nd shift, with responsibility for supporting sanitation operations across all shifts, including weekends as needed. Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life: Program Leadership: Establish and implement a strategic sanitation program that ensures the facility is safe, sanitary, and fully compliant with food safety and regulatory requirements. Operational Execution: Effectively train and lead the sanitation team in the execution of cleaning processing and packaging equipment, utensils, and the entire plant environment in accordance with corporate standards. Production Support: Ensure sanitation execution supports on‑time production start‑up and minimizes downtime. Environmental Monitoring: Own and execute the environmental pathogen monitoring program, ensuring timely response, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to ensure the plant is ready for production. Compliance & Auditing: Execute corporate sanitation audits, support local plant audits, and maintain accountability for results and action plans. Standard Operating Procedures: Monitor and update Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and adhere to MLF corporate sanitation standards, developing new processes where required. Chemical Management: Manage all chemicals and sanitizing agents in the facility, including ordering, titration, and safe storage. Safety & GMPs: Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and promote the company’s health and safety program, ensuring continued compliance with OSHA standards and a safe working environment. Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices, conduct time studies for efficiency, and lead problem‑solving efforts through team meetings and on‑the‑floor leadership. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Support and execute the Company’s Food Safety programs in conjunction with the FSQA team and provide input on sanitation excellence across the organization. What You’ll Bring: Experience: Minimum 8 years of sanitation experience, preferably in the food manufacturing industry. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role. Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in cleaning systems (CIP, COP) and chemical cleaning training. Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, WHMIS/GHS, First Aid, and Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out (LOTO) procedures. Comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety Regulations and applicable requisites. Preferred Skills: Direct experience with environmental monitoring programs. Ability to troubleshoot quality issues and implement corrective measures under tight deadlines. Compensation The above compensation reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job‑related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part‑time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in Maple Leaf’s annual short‑term incentive plan.
