Picture a typical morning in Morristown, TN: you arrive at our state‑of‑the‑art Precision Boilers facility (a Thermon company), grab a coffee, and open the latest control panel layout you drafted for an electrode steam generator. By mid‑morning you’re conferring with shop assemblers to confirm wire routing is service‑friendly. After lunch, you’re refining a PLC routine for an Allen‑Bradley platform and validating component selections against NEC, NFPA, UL, and CSA codes. Before the day ends, you’re on a quick call helping a field tech troubleshoot an I/O anomaly at a customer site. That’s a day in the life here.

Located in Morristown, TN, our Precision Boilers team designs and manufactures industry‑leading electric and fuel‑fired hot water boilers and steam generators, plus accessories like deaerators and blowdown tanks.

Your impact (reporting to the Electrical Engineering Supervisor)

• Design and enhance electrical control systems across product lines: gas‑fired boilers, electrode boilers, and electric boilers.
• Create schematic wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and complete bills of materials.
• Select components that meet customer specifications and applicable codes.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, UL, and CSA requirements; maintain UL files and records for listed products.
• Partner with shop assemblers to validate build practicality, access, and safety.
• Troubleshoot with customers and service technicians—both remotely and on site.
• Author clear technical documents: system descriptions, operating instructions, and content for customer manuals.
• Collaborate across teams—marketing (new products/options), service (field inquiries), purchasing (alt sources/deviations), and manufacturing (process and productivity improvements).
• Develop PLC programs.

What you bring

• BS in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude; able to read mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation drawings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Access.
• Skilled with CAD for creating and editing drawings.
• Boiler industry background is a plus.
• Working knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel Codes, boilers, heat transfer equipment, or auxiliary boiler room equipment preferred.

• Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) (Allen Bradley, Siemens)

Physical demands and work environment

• Prolonged periods at a desk and computer.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Mainly office‑based with low to moderate exposure to noise, heat, and cold when on the production floor.
• Frequent walking, bending, hand dexterity, speaking, and seeing.
• Steel toe shoes, earplugs, and safety glasses are always required while on the production floor.
