We are seeking an accomplished and results-driven Vice President of Fleet Operations to lead all aspects of fleet strategy, maintenance operations, vehicle lifecycle management, asset performance, and fleet compliance across our operation.

This executive leadership role is responsible for ensuring fleet reliability, optimizing vehicle utilization, strengthening maintenance programs, improving operational efficiencies, and supporting the long-term growth of the organization. As a key member of the leadership team, you'll develop and execute fleet initiatives that support safety, cost control, service excellence, and organizational success.

Key Responsibilities of a Vice President of Fleet Operations:Executive Leadership & Fleet Strategy

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all fleet operations and maintenance functions.
• Develop and execute fleet strategies that support safety, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Establish performance objectives and accountability measures that drive fleet effectiveness and efficiency.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on fleet utilization, vehicle readiness, maintenance performance, and cost management.
• Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership regarding fleet planning, capital investments, and operational strategy.
• Ensure alignment between fleet initiatives and organizational growth objectives.

Fleet Operations & Asset Management

• Oversee fleet maintenance, vehicle acquisition, replacement planning, and lifecycle management.
• Develop strategies to maximize vehicle availability and minimize downtime.
• Monitor fleet utilization, asset performance, maintenance schedules, and operational readiness.
• Standardize fleet processes, maintenance procedures, and best practices across the organization.
• Implement programs that improve vehicle longevity, reliability, and overall fleet performance.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, equipment, and fleet innovations that support operational efficiency.

Maintenance & Performance Optimization

• Lead maintenance teams responsible for preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and vehicle inspections.
• Establish performance metrics and operational standards for maintenance operations.
• Analyze fleet data and maintenance trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop initiatives that reduce repair costs while maintaining high safety and reliability standards.
• Ensure maintenance operations are efficient, productive, and aligned with company objectives.
• Drive operational excellence through data-driven decision-making and process improvement.

Safety, Risk Management & Compliance

• Champion a culture of safety throughout all fleet and maintenance operations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
• Oversee vehicle inspection programs, regulatory compliance requirements, and fleet safety initiatives.
• Monitor accident trends, maintenance-related incidents, and compliance performance.
• Implement risk reduction strategies and corrective action programs.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry best practices.

Financial Management & Strategic Planning

• Partner with executive leadership to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term capital plans.
• Manage fleet-related expenses, maintenance budgets, and asset investment strategies.
• Identify opportunities to reduce operating costs while improving fleet performance.
• Analyze financial and operational data to support informed business decisions.
• Lead fleet planning initiatives that support organizational growth and market expansion.
• Ensure responsible management of company assets and resources.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop directors, managers, fleet supervisors, and maintenance leaders.
• Build a high-performing culture focused on accountability, teamwork, safety, and operational excellence.
• Support workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and employee retention efforts.
• Foster collaboration across operations, maintenance, safety, procurement, and leadership teams.
• Develop future leaders through coaching, training, and professional development initiatives.

Qualifications for a Vice President of Fleet Operations:

• 7+ years of senior leadership experience in fleet operations, transportation, logistics, maintenance management, or a related industry.
• Proven success leading large-scale fleet operations and maintenance organizations.
• Strong understanding of fleet management, vehicle lifecycle planning, preventative maintenance, and asset utilization.
• Experience overseeing maintenance facilities, repair operations, and fleet performance programs.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, fleet compliance requirements, vehicle safety standards, and risk management practices.
• Experience managing budgets, capital expenditures, operational KPIs, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team-development abilities.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
