Under supervision, the intern performs a variety of patient care duties tailored to individual age and developmental needs, assisting with daily living activities and clinical tasks.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Provide direct patient care including hygiene assistance such as bathing, hair care, oral hygiene, and grooming.
• Deliver skin care while preventing breakdown and assist with physical activities like repositioning, ambulation, range of motion exercises, and transfers.
• Support nutritional needs by preparing patients for meals, assisting with feeding, monitoring intake, and adhering to dietary restrictions.
• Collect specimens, perform vital signs, and document intake and output accurately.
• Perform specialized care such as sit baths, postmortem care, application of ted hose, ice packs, and binders.
• Lead and support performance improvement initiatives, fostering teamwork and employee involvement.
• Carry out technical nursing procedures within credentialing scope, including oxygen therapy management, catheter insertion/removal, IV discontinuation, nasopharyngeal suctioning, dressing changes, wound care, and skin management.
• Conduct patient assessments and collaborate closely with primary nurses.
• Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, manage NG tubes, and provide patient and family education alongside nursing staff.
• Document all care activities thoroughly and promptly, ensuring accuracy and compliance with medical records standards.

Education: Currently enrolled in a nursing program or completed nursing education but not yet licensed.

Experience: Entry-level position; no prior experience required.

Certification/License: Not applicable for this role.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Requires significant mental focus and physical stamina, including frequent walking, lifting, turning, and other physical activities.

Working Conditions: Exposure to infectious diseases, radiation, and potentially hostile situations may occur. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
