Job Description:

The Department of Psychology at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Developmental Psychology beginning Fall 2027 . Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, university service, and continuing professional development. This position reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Psychology.

The Department of Psychology at the State University of New York at Oneonta is a thriving department of 11 full-time faculty members with diverse research interests that create an engaging learning environment characterized by accessible faculty, teamwork, student research opportunities, and technology-supported classrooms. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Teach courses in developmental psychology and develop courses in area of specialization.
• Maintain an active research program.
• Participate in student involvements such as advisement, research supervision, and mentoring.
• Provide service to the department and university.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Doctorate Degree in Developmental Psychology, or a closely related discipline. ABD considered; official confirmation of degree conferral by issuing institution by start of employment.
• Ability to initiate and sustain a suitable research program.?Specialization in late adulthood/aging, geropsychology, or gerontology in both teaching and research.
• Ability to teach online.

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience teaching developmental courses in aging, geropsychology, gerontology, end-of-lifestudies or similar areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to teach courses in the core areas of our curriculum, especially research methods and statistics.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness, capability of initiating a suitable and productive research program, and scholarly productivity.
• Demonstrated experience involving undergraduate students in research.
• Experience advising and mentoring undergraduate students.
• Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations.
