Job Title: Community Response Technician (CRT) – Community Response Unit (CRU)
Reports To: CRU Supervisor and/or Chief of Police
FLSA Status: Part-Time

Position Summary

The Part-Time Community Response Technician (CRT) assigned to the Community Response Unit (CRU) provides administrative, operational, and technical support to CRU personnel.

This position assists with the coordination and management of key programs and initiatives related to traffic safety, vehicle oversight, and departmental support functions. Work is performed under the direction of the CRU Supervisor and/or the Chief of Police.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all abandoned vehicles within the township, including tracking, documentation, and coordination of removal (200+ annually).
• Conduct and review traffic safety surveys, including the preparation of reports related to traffic and parking restrictions and/or petitions from the Traffic Calming Committee.
• Administer and monitor police impounded vehicles, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with department procedures.
• Coordinate the deployment, rotation, and maintenance of radar speed warning signs (approximately 12 units on a weekly rotation).
• Assist with police applicant background investigations, including administrative support and documentation review.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Operate and manage radar speed data collection devices and compile associated reports.
• Assist with the management and content updates of departmental social media platforms.
• Support traffic studies, surveys, and traffic calming initiatives as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the CRU Supervisor or Chief of Police.

Work Schedule

• Part-time position, averaging 24-hour per week.
• Flexible schedule based on operational needs of the Community Response Unit.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications and data management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior administrative or clerical experience, preferably in a law enforcement or municipal environment.
• Familiarity with traffic safety programs, data collection tools, or vehicle management processes.
• Experience with social media management and public communication.

This regular, part-time position has flexibility for scheduling 24 hours over the week; for example, the three days could be scheduled as Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
