Garden Host/Greeter
FRIENDS OF THE COMMUNITY GROWING CENTER INC
The Growing Center strives to be open to the public on a seasonal basis at least three times per week for several hours each time, thereby being accessible to everyone in the community looking to spend time outside. "Open Garden Hours" Hosts unlock the gate, make sure walkways are clear of debris and set up an information table. Once set up, the act as both site contacts and greeters. They check the rolling document for "site updates" (via QR code on side of barn) to see if any tasks need to be done. They welcome folks to the garden, answer any questions that visitors may have, and also ensure that visitors leave knowing about the Center’s other opportunities.
Open Garden Hours for 2026 are: Thursdays 4:30-6:30 pm; Saturdays 10:00 am to 12:00 pm; and Sundays 12:00-2:00 pm.
This opportunity is only available for those who have taken the general Volunteer Orientation (we offer 2 a month!) as well as the brief, 15-minute Host Orientation (offered on a rolling basis). More info at
