Theater Assistant Director(s)

Job Description Starting Date: Aug 1, 2026 Position: heater Assistant Director Supplementals Represented: Musical/Play Director Drama (Fall and Spring) Responsible To: Building Administration At Licking Heights Local Schools, our commitment to student success drives everything we do. Job Goal Assists in the direction of student theatrical productions. Qualifications Available to work a non‑traditional schedule and irregular hours when needed. Maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment. Performing arts production skills verified by training and relevant work experience. Active listening, creative problem solving, and good time management skills. Performance Responsibilities Develops, delivers, and advances program activities. Provides opportunities for students to enhance skills, build positive peer relationships, and develop leadership qualities. Conducts professionally administered tryouts to select program participants. Confirms student medical emergency authorization forms are up‑to‑date and readily available. Encourages student participation and monitors the accuracy of internal‑external communications. Ensures program activities are self‑sustaining except when authorized by the administration. Executes a well‑designed program plan and ensures participants receive appropriate instruction in theatrical and technical theater. Provides proactive supervision for all program activities. Maintains effective document and records management systems, prepares timely files, and monitors reporting deadlines. Maintains orderly work/storage areas. Manages advanced and on‑site ticket sales and monitors cash box and ticket accountability forms. Organizes pre‑production activities (e.g., choreography, costumes, lighting, music, props, sets, scripts, sound systems). Prepares a performance calendar and assembles a production team. Prepares program goals, budget, and implementation plan for administrative approval. Prepares/restores shared program sites. Preserves reference materials for future programs (advertising, correspondence, participant information, photos, publicity, scheduling, staffing, videotapes, volunteer activities). Provides opportunities for program participants to critique activities and suggest enhancements. Selects a challenging performance program that is age‑appropriate and attainable for students. Consistently performs all aspects of the job and diligently pursues high quality results. Develops mutually respectful relationships with co‑workers and functions as part of a cohesive team. Helps ensure the accuracy and privacy of confidential information. Maintains a professional appearance. Wears work attire appropriate for the position. Sustains an acceptable attendance record and consistently complies with established work schedules. Maintains open and effective communications and serves as a reliable information resource. Fosters goodwill and encourages relationships that enhance public support for the district. Refers administrative procedure and district policy questions to an appropriate administrator. Supports equality, diversity, and inclusion and uses tact and diplomacy to resolve differences fairly. Pursues opportunities to enhance job knowledge and skill proficiency. Keeps current with standards and practices associated with work duties. Updates skills as needed to use task‑appropriate technology effectively. Keeps current with emergency preparedness and response procedures. Complies with health and safety protocols to mitigate workplace risks. Protects district property and takes precautions to prevent loss of equipment and supplies. Take action to address harassment or aggressive behavior and complies with all legal statutes when dealing with discrimination, inappropriate behavior, or suspected child abuse/neglect. Performs other specific job‑related duties as directed, including helping implement district strategies to advance organizational goals. Some responsibilities involve vehicle operation and traveling to meetings and assignments. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated annually by building administrators.
