Pharmacy TechnicianEmployment Type: Part TimeShift: Part TimeLocation: MercyOne - Mason City, IowaPosition PurposeThe Pharmacy Technician prepares all medications, (unit dose and IV compounded products) for pharmacist check and ensures delivery to nursing unit for patient administration, refills pyxis units, prepares all floor stock requests, maintains the department's inventory in a clean and orderly condition, requisitions supplies, processes departmental paperwork, and triages phone calls. No prior experience is necessary. Extensive on the job training will be provided.Minimum QualificationsRequired:A high school diploma or equivalent is required.Preferred:Completion of Pharmacy Technician training course and/or Certification.Certification and Registration:Required:Following accepting position, registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Technician Trainee or Certified Pharmacy Technician is required prior to commencement of employment per IA BOP Rules 657-3.3.Pharmacy Technician Certification. National certification must be acquired and maintained from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or the National Healthcareer Association prior to the expiration date of a Pharmacy Technician in Training registration.Special Skills and CompetenciesTact, diplomacy, accuracy, dependability, computer and typing skillsExcellent customer service skillsProficient in mathematical skillsKnowledge of pharmaceutical names and dosagesMust have acceptable accuracy in performing tasks of verbal and written communication, keyboard operation and computer skills, as well as interpretation and use of numerical and graphical materials.Must be organized and detail orientedMust follow all laws and regulations related to the practice of pharmacyMust be able to read, write and/or speak EnglishPharmacy Technician TraineePosition Purpose: The pharmacy technician trainee program trains individuals on all aspects of pharmacy and requires no previous experience. While studying towards certification, within limits of current training, and under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and general supervision of a Licensed Technician, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee will:Learn how to prepare medication orders, including both sterile and non-sterile compounds.
