To learn more, please visit About The Opportunity Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Associate is a full‑time non‑exempt employee and an integral part of the Program Team. This role supports the Chicago arts and environmental justice grantmaking programs, including a participatory grantmaking component, and the sports‑based youth development program. The Chicago grantmaking portfolio consists of approximately 75 grantees receiving $2.4 million annually. The Program Associate will also work with the team to develop and implement a new organization‑wide communications program focused on uplifting the work of our grantee partners, contributing to the positive narrative about the field, and enabling collaboration. The position is based in Chicago, with occasional travel to Washington, DC and Newport, RI. Key responsibilities: Provide programmatic support for grantmaking: evaluate grant proposals, monitor grantee performance, and prepare reports. Assist in the participatory grantmaking component, engaging grantees and community stakeholders. Develop and execute communications initiatives that highlight grantees’ impact and promote collaboration. Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic planning and implementation of new programs. Conduct occasional administrative tasks as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Experience in nonprofit grantmaking, program evaluation, or related areas. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear, concise reports. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Compensation and Benefits The position is a salaried, exempt, full‑time role with a salary range of $76,500 – $92,000 annually, depending on professional and lived experience. Benefits include: an employer‑sponsored medical plan with a 2% employee cost share; vision and dental benefits for employee and dependents; life and disability insurance; generous paid vacation, sick, and holiday leave; and a 10% retirement contribution.
