ICU RN

The ICU/CCU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with serious respiratory and/or cardiac conditions in the intensive care and coronary care units. This role involves coordinating patient care, managing critical situations, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to meet individualized patient needs. The nurse must be adaptable to various units including OB, Medical-Surgical, PACU, and ER, and be prepared to work a demanding schedule of 80 hours every two weeks with no exceptions. Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and provide specialized nursing care in ICU/CCU settings for patients with critical respiratory and cardiac conditions.
• Manage patient care for surgical and critically ill patients, maintaining appropriate patient-to-nurse ratios (typically 1:2).
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning tailored to patient acuity.
• Respond to emergencies and collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Float and assist in other units such as OB, Medical-Surgical, PACU, and ER according to competency level.
• Complete orientation and competency requirements including hospital and unit-specific training.
• Maintain accurate patient records and communicate changes in patient condition promptly.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Hawaii.
• Minimum of 2 years ICU or critical care nursing experience.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Competency in managing ventilated patients and critical care equipment.

• Experience in Emergency Room and PACU settings.
• Prior experience with pediatric and geriatric ICU populations.
• Familiarity with float assignments across various hospital units.

• Must be willing and able to work any shift with no exceptions.
• Strict 80 hours every two weeks schedule with no exceptions.
• Patient ratio typically 1:2; additional nurse called in if acuity requires.
• Orientation includes hospital HR onboarding, unit orientation with nurse manager, and competency binder completion.

• Work schedule consists of 80 hours every two weeks.
