Overview

The Project Engineer IV leads a small team of engineers and CAD designers typically around five team members focused on general/physical layout and protection & control packages for substation design projects. This role serves as the sealing engineer for most deliverables produced by the team and plays a key part in client relations and selective business development efforts. The position reports directly to the Divisional Manager.

Openings are available in the Charlotte and Raleigh offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and schedule work for engineers, designers, and CAD personnel on the assigned team.
• Serve as the primary client point of contact for active projects, ensuring satisfaction and assisting with planning for future work.
• Demonstrate proficiency across multiple substation engineering disciplines, including physical layout, protection and control design, relay settings and programming, field support, commissioning, and relay testing.
• Perform and oversee project design activities, including engineering calculations, the use of design software, and application of engineering standards and manuals.
• Prepare and/or direct the development of complex project documents, such as specifications and bid packages.
• Review full plan sets, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and clearly represent design intent.
• Provide guidance and training to Project Engineers I and II within the division.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for daily tasks.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Perform additional related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
