Payroll Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist with a strong background in construction and union payroll to manage weekly and bi-weekly payroll operations. This role requires deep knowledge of union agreements, certified payroll, and multi-state compliance, along with the ability to support reporting, accounting, and operational processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.


Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle weekly and bi-weekly payroll, including union and non-union employees
• Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), including union rates, fringes, and deductions
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage laws (e.g., Davis-Bacon)
• Maintain accurate payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and employee changes
• Administer garnishments, benefits, and union-related contributions
• Reconcile payroll data, support general ledger postings, and assist with month-end close
• Generate payroll reports and perform variance analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Respond to employee and union inquiries and support audits as needed
• Partner with HR and Accounting to ensure alignment across systems and processes

Qualifications

• 3-6 years of payroll experience, with direct experience in construction and union environments
• Strong knowledge of union payroll, CBAs, certified payroll reporting, and prevailing wage requirements
• Experience processing multi-state payroll
• Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar)
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality
