Quality Engineer

Quality EngineerThe Quality Engineer will perform Quality system operation and inspections of power transformers for ensuring Power Transformer products and services meet the requirements of industry standards, customer and company specifications while maintaining highest quality and complete customer satisfaction.The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:Conduct the internal audit, inspection/test and supplier audit process according to the QA program. If necessary, issue NCR/CAR on non-conformities.Support ongoing process improvement activities. Assess quality trends, employ root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective action to improve overall effectiveness of the QA program and final product.Ensure that assembly and inspection/test data is properly collected, reviewed, archived and submitted to customers as required.Plan and administer environmental, operational, or performance inspection/test on products & system.Coordinate and direct engineering activities concerned with the development, procurement and calibration of instruments, equipment, and control devices required for inspection/test.Review customer specification and implement appropriate inspection/testing to meet the customers' requirements utilizing applicable quality assurance and manufacturing department procedures.Analyze and interpret, drawings, manuals or other information required to determine specifications, inspections procedures, testing requirements and certification methods.Confer with engineering, and technical personnel to resolve manufacturing and testing problems, such as product or systems malfunctions, manufacturing defects, supplier related nonconformances, and incomplete test data.Provide leadership, direction and technical support to quality inspectors to operate labs for calibration, chemical analysis and inspection/testing, and support and assist the Quality Manager as required.Promote a culture of process control and quality excellence by providing effective leadership for problem solving, failure investigations, and implementing appropriate countermeasures.Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures.Further the goals and positive, professional image of the (Department/Division) Department by effective dealings with customers and other internal departments.Lead and provide guidance to the organization in the implementation and maintaining of compliance to the ISO 9001 program.Know Hyosung Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and their impact in the workplace.The description above represents the most significant essential duties of the job but does not exclude other occasional work assignments not mentioned.The non-essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:Perform other duties as assigned.Perform test equipment and tool inspections and calibration as required.Perform other duties as assigned in support of ongoing business activities which include but are not limited to: the ISO-9001 program, daily and routine manufacturing and QC inspection issues, and lean manufacturing initiatives, internal audits, customer and supplier visits or field assessments, testing issues or general QA/QC procedural matters.Assist with on-the-job trainingRequirements:Education/Special Skills/Experience/Training:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree with a minimum 3 years of experience in quality assurance or equivalent education and experience.Advanced knowledge of applicable Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Department procedures.Advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate with employees, customers and vendors.Advanced analytical and problem solving skillsDeveloped verbal and written communications skills.Broad knowledge of and experience in using inspection tools, instruments and equipment.Developed computer skills for entering and retrieving data.Broad knowledge of ISO 9001 standard and quality requirementsPhysical/Mental Characteristics of the Position and Environmental Factors of the Workplace:Ability to use office equipment and tools, such as: PC, photocopier, fax machine, test equipment, quality instruments, digital camera, etc.Able to travel domestic and international to conduct source inspections and audits as required.Ability to communicate with others to complete work assignments.Ability to analyze data and develop accompanying reports.Hyosung HICO, Ltd., is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Employer.
