Senior Interaction Designer (IxD)

Work Flexibility: Hybrid or OnsiteStryker is seeking a Senior Interaction Designer to support the Endoscopy Systems R&D team in developing innovative surgical visualization and operating room integration products. This role is responsible for creating intuitive user experiences and digital interfaces through user-centered design, customer research, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to deliver safe, effective, and clinically meaningful solutions. While this role carries a Senior Interaction Designer title, it is intended for early-career designers seeking to grow their expertise in product development, user-centered design, and medical technology within a collaborative in-house environment.Portfolio Required: Demonstrated experience applying UX/UI design methodologies through a portfolio that highlights end-to-end product development, from concept generation to commercial launch.Workplace Flexibility & Location requirements: This is a hybrid role requiring the candidate to be within commuting distance to San Jose, CA. The work schedule is structured to support flexibility, with in-office presence required 3 days/week and remote work available the rest of the week. To qualify, candidates must be able to commute to the facility as needed.What you will doEngage with customers to better understand their needs, the needs of patients and the clinical environment.Develop concepts and prototypes for the purposes of better understanding the product needs, testing hypotheses and the establishment of product requirements.Create a cohesive & elegant user experience across both physical and digital touchpoints.Translate high-level design concepts into design descriptions and guidelines which can be used to brief the implementation R&D teams.Partner and communicate with technical engineers throughout development to launch.5-10% travel to clinical sites will be required from time-to-time to interview end-users, demonstrate prototypes, and observe clinical procedures.Balance creating the ideal user experience with other constraints such as business goals and time to market.Lead design reviews, communicate design concepts to key stakeholders, contribute to roadmap planning, and sprint planning.Be the primary designer on a number of projects and guide junior designers where required.Manage multiple priorities and timelines at once.What You NeedRequiredBachelor’s degree in Product Design in one of the following areas: interaction, visual communication, graphic, product, industrial, human computer interaction or related disciplineMinimum of 2+ years of professional product design experience (physical and/or digital products), with a demonstrated track record of delivering products from concept through implementation.Advanced proficiency in Figma for UX/UI design, prototyping, and interaction design.Experience collaborating within software development and product development environments for embedded systems, including products that integrate both software and hardware components.Preferred:Experience in a healthcare, medical product development environment or experience in a regulated environment.Experience in designing for a range of unique physical environments, such as industry, healthcare, manufacturing, consumer.Familiarity with iterative processes like Agile Scrum and the tools and strategies that make those processes successful.Demonstrated experience of Human Factors studies, Ergonomics analysis and user research.$101,000.00 - $168,400.00 USDTravel Percentage: 10%Stryker Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
