The Department of Cell & Developmental Biology (CDB) at the University of Michigan Medical School (Ann Arbor) is seeking a highly-driven scientist to work as a Research Investigator. The ideal candidate will be supervised by the Principal Investigator in a laboratory that studies the regulation of epithelial differentiation and its interaction with the immune system which are key to the understanding of tissue homeostasis and inflammatory diseases. The ideal candidate will lead a program focused on the relationship between keratins, epithelial differentiation and immunity in stress response and disease. In this leadership position, the candidate will: Conduct their own individual research projects; Mentor graduate students and research technicians; Help in generating data for manuscripts and grant applications; Write and submit their own grant applications as a step to acquire an independent position. Candidates with a strong background in biochemistry, cell biology, and advanced microscopy with a strong record of publications in this field of research will be given preference. Candidates must have a Ph. D. degree and a minimum of 4 years of postdoctoral training. Additional requirements include expert written and verbal communication skills in the English language, as well as strong interpersonal skills that are conducive to building a healthy and collaborative lab environment. Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
