Outpatient Clinical Nurse - Diagnostic Imaging The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is dedicated to eliminating cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through excellence in patient care, research, prevention, and education. The Outpatient Clinical Nurse plays a vital role in advancing this mission by delivering evidence-based care, coordinating services across the continuum of care, and supporting patients and families throughout their treatment journey. The Outpatient Clinical Nurse in the Diagnostic Imaging Department serves as a key member of the inter-professional team, ensuring safe, compassionate, and efficient patient care. The Outpatient Clinical Nurse advocates for patients and families, supports operational excellence, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. The Outpatient Clinical Nurse also helps train, coach, and support team members to achieve optimal outcomes. The ideal candidate is a patient-focused nursing professional with experience coordinating outpatient care, collaborating within interdisciplinary teams, and applying evidence-based clinical practices. A strong candidate demonstrates excellence in patient advocacy, communication, leadership, mentoring, clinical technology utilization, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. Education, experience, and licensure requirements were not provided; therefore, candidates should possess the qualifications necessary to independently practice professional nursing in a complex healthcare environment. Shift / Hours: The typical work schedule is Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with rotating weekend coverage and rotation to HALs as needed. Why Us? - Coordinate and implement patient care across the continuum of care
- Provide quality, evidence-based nursing care using available resources effectively
- Advocate for patients and families to uphold patient rights
- Practice autonomously within the scope of professional nursing practice
- Deliver compassionate, direct patient care consistent with professional practice standards
- Apply ethical principles in clinical decision-making and patient care
- Utilize a systematic, outcome-focused approach to patient care delivery
- Identify, implement, and evaluate opportunities for patient care improvement
- Organize and prioritize the work of the patient care team
- Train, coach, and assist team members to ensure optimal patient care delivery
- Collaborate with Charge Nurses, Clinical Nurse Leaders, and Nurse Managers to anticipate patient and family needs
- Foster positive peer relationships through coaching and mentoring
- Demonstrate commitment and accountability to the inter-professional team
- Provide feedback regarding clerical and clinical staff performance
- Participate in annual evaluation and professional development processes
- Promote accountability and Just Culture principles among team members
- Apply new and existing evidence to patient care standards and clinical practice
- Incorporate innovations and improvements into patient care delivery systems
