On a day‑to‑day basis the successful candidate will support the delivery of multiple strategic projects for public and private sector clients by leading mandates related to sustainability and climate change for major infrastructure projects. The role will include project delivery across carbon management, climate resilience, the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure's Envision Framework, and the LEED rating system for major infrastructure and buildings projects.

Typical work will involve:

Manage sustainability implementation and strategic sustainability advisory on large capital projects for a range of public and private sector clients.

Develop sustainability management plans for major infrastructure projects, addressing climate and sustainability metrics including GHG emissions, climate resiliency, waste management and reduction, construction energy use, and materials procurement.

Collaborate with sustainability subject specialists (including climate resiliency and GHG emissions) to conduct assessments of sustainability performance metrics and integrate sustainability strategies into project delivery.

Work with wider project teams, including internal design teams and contractors, to embed and deliver sustainability requirements across the project lifecycle.

Exercise project leadership through supporting project managers and teams to deliver high quality work and exercise sound commercial awareness.

Participate in the wider global community of advisory and climate change consultants within Mott MacDonald, managing team contributions and collaborating with colleagues across the region and across all regions.

Mentor, coach, and manage junior colleagues to build their capabilities, commercial awareness, and confidence in project delivery.

Together with others in the team, provide thought leadership in the market, prepare materials for and attend industry events, and engage with our clients to share our collective experience.

Support the growth of the sustainability and climate change practice by identifying opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to proposals and strategic market development.

Candidates who can demonstrate the following skills and experience will be considered for the role:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Planning, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.

15+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure development, engineering, sustainability consulting, or related professional services environments.

Proven experience leading sustainability strategies and delivery for large, complex infrastructure programs and projects.

Demonstrated success in achieving Envision verification and/or LEED certification, including experience managing certification processes, stakeholder engagement, and documentation requirements through project completion.

Active Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) and/or LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP BD+C) credentials required.

Extensive experience supporting infrastructure projects delivered through a variety of procurement and delivery methods, including Design‑Build, Progressive Design‑Build, CMAR, and Public‑Private Partnerships (P3s).

Strong commercial and business acumen with the ability to align sustainability objectives with client priorities, project outcomes, risk management, and financial performance.

Demonstrated experience developing winning pursuits, leading proposal efforts, and positioning sustainability services as a key differentiator in major infrastructure opportunities.

Proven track record of business development, client relationship management, and revenue growth, including identifying opportunities, securing new work, and expanding existing client accounts.

Experience serving as a project manager, program manager, or discipline lead with responsibility for project scope, budgets, schedules, contracts, and resource management.

Strong understanding of project governance, commercial management, quality assurance, and contractual requirements within a consulting environment.

Recognized ability to provide technical leadership while mentoring, coaching, and developing high‑performing teams across multiple projects and offices.

Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with experience engaging executive stakeholders, clients, public agencies, and project teams.

Ability to influence decision‑making and build consensus among diverse stakeholders in complex project environments.

Demonstrated ability to operate independently, exercise sound professional judgment, and lead strategic initiatives with minimal oversight.

Established industry profile through professional associations, conference presentations, thought leadership, or participation in sustainability and infrastructure‑focused organizations preferred.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

The expected salary for this position is $180,000 - $220,000
