5-Axis Mill Machinist

One of our clients is a well-established, family-owned precision machining company with decades of experience serving customers in the manufacturing industry. The company specializes in precision CNC machining, including 5-axis capabilities, mold design and production, industrial repair machining, and turnkey manufacturing services.

The organization is ISO 9001:2015 certified and emphasizes quality, accountability, continuous improvement, safety, and on-time delivery.

Our client is seeking an experienced 5-Axis Mill Machinist for a full-time, on-site position in Houston, TX.

The Mill Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC milling machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong 5-axis CNC milling experience , the ability to interpret technical drawings and basic GD&T, and hands-on experience with precision measurement equipment.

• 5-Axis CNC Mill experience is required

• Strong CNC milling and machining experience

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications

• Basic understanding of GD&T

• Experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines

• Ability to select and properly use cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding

• Experience using precision measurement equipment, including:

  • Calipers

  • Micrometers

  • Gauges

  • Other inspection tools

• Ability to verify finished parts against drawings and specifications

• Working knowledge of machining processes and equipment

• Ability to calculate and work with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals

• Ability to understand and communicate in English, both written and spoken

• Ability to follow work instructions, safety rules, and procedure manuals

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Reliable attendance and punctuality

• Ability to work efficiently while meeting or exceeding productivity standards

• Experience in a precision machining/manufacturing environment

• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems

• Basic computer skills for machine interfaces and production documentation

• Experience training or assisting less-experienced machinists

• Experience with preventive maintenance and routine machine checks

• Strong time-management and organizational skills

• Review drawings, sketches, or sample parts with supervisors to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements

• Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on materials or workpieces as needed

• Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials

• Set machine controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut

• Enter, retrieve, or edit computerized machine control programs as required

• Set up and operate CNC milling equipment

• Perform trial runs to verify machine settings and programmed data

• Monitor machine operation and identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions

• Make appropriate machine adjustments to maintain quality and dimensional accuracy

• Inspect and measure completed workpieces to verify conformance with specifications

• Complete dimensional reports and other required production documentation

• Work with supervisors, programmers, and other team members to resolve machining issues

• Maintain material traceability to shop work orders

• Maintain accurate job travelers, dimensional data sheets, time logs, and related records

• Perform routine preventive maintenance and report equipment issues promptly

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

• Follow all company safety and security procedures

• Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives

• Work approximately 40 hours per week during normal operating hours unless otherwise directed by management

• Ability to regularly stand, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, push, pull, grasp, squeeze, reach, and twist

• Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds; lifting aids are available for heavier objects

• Ability to use computer keyboards and mice

• Ability to read fine print and marks on engineering drawings, parts, cutting tools, and measurement devices

• Regular exposure to moving machinery, including mills, lathes, forklifts, and cranes

• Moderate but continuous noise level

• Safety glasses and steel-toed shoes are required

• Gloves are recommended when handling parts
