Location: Hayden, Idaho or Spokane Valley, Washington
Employment Type: Full-time
Compensation: $26.00 – $35.00 per hour, depending on certifications and experience
Overview
A reputable construction services organization is seeking a Certified Construction Materials Special Inspector to support inspection and materials testing activities across northern Idaho and eastern Washington. This field-based role requires hands-on experience with construction materials testing, strong technical skills, and a consistent focus on quality, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field inspections and construction materials testing in accordance with WAQTC procedures and project specifications.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, applicable standards, and quality requirements.
- Conduct testing and inspection of aggregates, asphalt, base materials, and in-place densities.
- Prepare accurate and timely electronic field reports and document test results using mobile devices.
- Operate, maintain, and transport field and laboratory equipment, including nuclear gauges, density testing equipment, and sampling tools.
- Communicate professionally with contractors, engineers, and internal team members.
- Travel throughout the service region to support onsite inspections and testing activities.
Required Certifications
- Aggregate
- Asphalt I
- Embankment & Base
- In-Place Density
Preferred Certifications
- ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I or higher
- Nuclear Gauge Safety Training
- ICC Certifications, including:
- Reinforced Concrete
- Pre-Stressed Concrete
- Structural Steel and Bolting
- Structural Welding
- Spray-Applied and Intumescent Fireproofing
Qualifications
- Positive, professional attitude with a strong customer service mindset.
- Excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable using tablets or mobile devices for reporting and documentation.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver up to 75 lbs with assistance.
- Willingness to travel regularly to project sites throughout the region.
