Team Captain Footwear

Lead the Footwear department by delivering expert product knowledge and an exceptional athlete experience focused on fit and performance. As a Team Captain – Footwear, you will coach teammates, drive sales, and ensure the department is always ready to meet athlete needs. Help athletes perform at their best while growing your leadership career. Responsibilities Deliver outstanding athlete experiences by anticipating athlete needs and providing clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment. Uphold company merchandising and presentation standards by following established floor sets, signage requirements, price changes, inventory presentation, replenishment standards, etc. Promote and lead company programs such as customer loyalty program participation, warranty sales, and private‑label credit card enrollment. Collaborate with the SM and ASM to develop 30‑60‑90 day plans that support business priorities for assigned departments. Help establish working plans related to operational initiatives, staffing, hiring needs, and merchandising sets in accordance with budgets and financial goals. Execute plans and adjust as needed to ensure effectiveness, using independent judgment and analysis. Act as Head Coach and perform general store oversight including opening and closing procedures, front‑end and cash office functions, and teammate supervision. Communicate departmental goals and plans to direct reports daily or weekly, assign workload based on skill levels, and maximize efficiencies. Monitor progress against plans and adjust store goals to maintain uninterrupted operations and athlete support while meeting payroll and financial goals. Develop effective schedules for direct reports and adjust to meet athlete traffic demands while completing operational and merchandising initiatives. Build and lead a strong, effective team that delivers positive athlete experiences, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining appropriate numbers of direct reports. Ensure teammates are properly trained and provide coaching, feedback, development, recognition, and motivation throughout their lifecycle. Manage performance, including annual reviews, promotional recommendations, and hold teammates accountable for compliance with policies and procedures. Create a store environment where teammates and athletes are always welcome and treated with respect. Enforce policies and procedures related to safety, loss prevention, SOPs, and external laws and guidelines. Hold teammates accountable for failing to meet or comply with expectations. Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent. 1–3 years of experience. Previous retail/customer‑facing experience required. Previous people leadership experience preferred. Pay Range Targeted pay range: $44,500.00 – $58,500.00. The total rewards package may include incentive, equity, and benefits. Individual pay is determined by experience, location, internal equity, and other business considerations.
