Surveillance Agent

Ko-Kwel Casino Resort Coos Bay

Job Description

Job Description

At Ko-Kwel Casino Resort, we know the best experiences start with a warm welcome. Whether you're arriving for a relaxing getaway or clocking in for your shift. Here, hospitality is personal, teamwork is real, and people genuinely look out for one another. When you join our team, you're stepping into a workplace where you can learn, grow, and take pride in creating memorable moments across the entire property. We bring energy, heart, and professionalism to everything we do, by building not only unforgettable guest experiences, but a workplace we're proud to call our own.

Be part of a team that's shaping one of the premier destinations for gaming and hospitality. A place where guests and team members alike feel right at home on Oregon's beautiful southern coast and beyond.

Why this job matters

At Ko-Kwel Casino Resort, we believe in creating a safe, welcoming place where everyone - guests, team members, and our community - can thrive. As a Surveillance Agent, you help protect the heart of Ko-Kwel. Your role ensures honesty, fairness, and integrity in our gaming operations while safeguarding the well-being of the people who walk through our doors.

What you bring to the table
  • Make sure the space stays safe, clean, and friendly for both guests and the rest of the team; speak up and report any safety concerns to the Safety Committee.
  • Protect Tribal assets to ensure honesty and integrity in all gaming operations.
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of casino operations, Gaming Commission Regulations, MICS, and Title 31 requirements.
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Communicate openly with the Surveillance team and other departments or agencies.
  • Operate surveillance cameras to observe and investigate suspicious activity on the gaming floor.
  • Carefully observe, record, and report daily casino activity.
  • Monitor table games, slots, cage, soft count, vault, and non-gaming areas.
  • Train in camera use, cheating methods, game protection, basic strategy, and card counting.
  • Assist Security in protecting the welfare of employees and guests.
  • Use surveillance equipment and software to identify and record suspicious or illegal activity.
  • Assist in investigations led by Surveillance leadership or the Gaming Commission.
  • Support law enforcement investigations when necessary.
  • Accurately complete logs, reports, video reviews, and other documentation.
  • Jump in where needed to support the team and keep things running smoothly. (Other duties as assigned)
Must-haves, nice-to-haves, and maybe some bonus points
  • High school diploma or GED required. Formal education or certification in gaming or surveillance preferred.
  • One year of experience in gaming surveillance, investigations, loss prevention, or casino operations.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong report writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to do math without a calculator.
  • Comfort using Microsoft programs and surveillance software.
  • A dependable, disciplined work ethic.
  • Familiarity with table games, including odds and payouts.
  • Understanding of advantage play techniques like card counting.
  • A knack for spotting the unusual before anyone else does.
  • A genuine passion for keeping people safe and ensuring fairness.
  • Friendly and approachable attitude that helps guests (and the team) feel welcome and cared for every day.
  • Comfortable communicating clearly and positively with both guests and teammates.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
Physical stuff to know

We've included the typical physical parts of the job here. If you need an accommodation to do the work, just let us know-we're here to support you. You'll need to be available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings when we are busy. This role means spending long hours in a secure, enclosed space, sitting and observing attentively. You'll use your eyes and hands constantly to monitor equipment and record activity. Sometimes you'll need to lift or move up to 10 pounds. You may work evenings, weekends, and holidays, often with short notice. It is important to stay calm and make good decisions under pressure, especially when dealing with stressful situations or upset people. Just a heads-up-the casino environment may expose you to secondhand smoke. This is a quick summary of the main duties and requirements-it might not cover everything you could be asked to do.

Ko-Kwel Casino Resort is owned by the Coquille Indian Tribe. Team members are eligible for a comprehensive health care benefit, generous time off policy, 401-K retirement with 4% company match and other benefits.
