At St. Luke's, our TeleICU nurses make a difference in the lives of critically ill patients every day by extending critical care expertise across our health system. Working from our innovative Virtual Care Center in downtown Boise, TeleICU RNs partner with bedside teams, physicians, and intensivists to improve patient outcomes, support clinical decision-making, and ensure patients receive expert care whenever and wherever it is needed.

This is much more than a monitoring role. TeleICU nurses serve as experienced critical care consultants, mentors, and advocates who help identify clinical deterioration, guide evidence-based care, and support nurses caring for the most complex patients in our organization.

What You'll Do

As a TeleICU RN, you'll provide virtual critical care support to patients and care teams across four hospitals and two critical access sites, supporting five ICUs, one step-down unit, and critical access inpatient departments.

In this role, you will:

• Conduct proactive virtual patient rounds and comprehensive chart reviews.
• Monitor real-time physiologic data and identify early signs of clinical deterioration.
• Respond to critical alarms, abnormal vital signs, and emerging patient concerns.
• Initiate virtual patient encounters and collaborate directly with bedside nurses and providers.
• Assist bedside teams in recognizing opportunities to improve plans of care.
• Partner with physicians and intensivists to optimize clinical outcomes.
• Support evidence-based critical care practices and patient safety initiatives.
• Serve as a trusted resource and mentor for ICU nurses throughout the St. Luke's system.
• Provide an experienced second set of eyes during complex, high-risk patient situations.

A Typical Shift

No two shifts are exactly alike.

During a typical night, you might:

• Round on critically ill patients across multiple hospitals.
• Review patient trends and identify subtle changes before they become major clinical events.
• Collaborate with a bedside nurse caring for a complex ventilated patient.
• Assist a provider with patient assessment and clinical decision-making.
• Respond to alerts indicating potential deterioration and help coordinate interventions.
• Coach a newer ICU nurse through a challenging clinical situation.
• Join patient rooms virtually to assess concerns, answer questions, or support patient care.

TeleICU nurses work both independently and collaboratively, balancing autonomous critical thinking with strong partnership across multidisciplinary teams.

About the Virtual Care Center

Located in the heart of downtown Boise, the St. Luke's Virtual Care Center uses advanced technology to bring expert clinical support to patients and care teams throughout Idaho.

Every ICU room across St. Luke's is equipped with wall-mounted telehealth technology, allowing our TeleICU team to provide 24/7 support, consultation, and collaboration. TeleICU nurses work alongside an on-site intensivist team, creating an environment focused on excellence, innovation, and patient-centered care.

This is an on-site position and is not remote.

Position Details

• Part-Time (0.6 FTE)
• Night Shift
• Two 12-hour shifts per week
• Certification pay available
• On-site intensivist support available 24/7
• Located in Boise, Idaho
