What You'll Do as a Fabricator: Lay out, position, align, and fit metal components together according to production orders and technical engineering drawings. Safely set up and operate various shop machinery including press brakes, band saws, shears, drill presses, ironworkers, and grinding stations. Perform accurate cuts, bends, hole drilling, deburring, and metal surface preparation on raw sheet metal, steel tubing, and structural shapes. Utilize precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and protractors to verify parts meet tight tolerance requirements. Conduct thorough quality control checks on finished parts to ensure proper fit-up and surface finish prior to final assembly or welding. Safely maneuver heavy raw materials and finished sub-assemblies around the floor using overhead cranes, material lifts, or forklifts. Maintain a safe, orderly work area, adhering strictly to shop safety guidelines and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Skills and Experience: Prior hands-on experience in a metal fabrication, machining, or manufacturing shop environment. Solid blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret technical specs, bend allowances, and measurement dimensions. Proficiency using power tools, handheld grinders, metal prep equipment, and precision measuring devices. Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial awareness to visualize 3D assemblies from 2D shop drawings. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work actively throughout an 8- to 10-hour shift. Tack welding, MIG welding, or machine setup experience is a strong plus. A dependable work ethic, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to shop safety.
