Our office is looking for a friendly, hardworking, enthusiastic new member to our team! We are a busy optometric practice in a great location in Silverlake/Los Feliz area. We are looking for a qualified and talented Optical Lab Technician who is also trained as an Optician. Although the main responsibility will be in the Lab, the ideal candidate will seamlessly transition to sales on the dispensing floor. They need to be well-trained to maintain safety in the lab, stay diligent to the maintenance of the edger and be passionate for producing high quality and precise work.

Responsibilities

• Produce quality lenses: blocking, edging, tinting, polishing, grooving, and mounting optical lenses to frames
• Quality control to ensure lab orders are correct: prescription, lens options, frame information, measurements
• Diagnoses and solves equipment issues
• Troubleshooting prescription checks and dedicated patient education to promote successful adaptation
• Attentive to detail with all measurements, calculations, equipment settings and defective products
• Follow up with patients on their order status, any delays from labs or frame manufacturers
• Takes initiative to notice and follow up on discrepancies; suggests improvements, recommends solutions and does what is necessary to ensure patient satisfaction
• Organize, maintain, and store all laboratory equipment
• Work as a valued member of a team to ensure everything is running smoothly in the laboratory and that anything that needs to be repaired, ordered or replaced, is done so in a timely manner

Skills

• Proven experience as a Lab Technician
• Experience with troubleshooting lens issues and frame adjustments
• Ability to work individually and as a part of a team
• Proactive and self-sufficient with their job responsibilities
• ABO certification ideal, but not necessary
• Spanish speaking is a plus
