Essential Job Functions

• Enter, maintain, and/or process information in the payroll system; information may include employee hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses, or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
• Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
• Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
• Issue, or reissue, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
• Record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits.
• Processing wage garnishments, levies and other court-ordered deductions.
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for multi-state prevailing wage projects in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
• Review payroll records to ensure compliance with Davis-Bacon Act, prevailing wage, and other certified payroll regulations.
• Maintain accurate payroll documentation and supporting records for certified payroll reporting and audits.
• Coordinate with project managers and field personnel to verify employee classifications, work locations, and hours for certified payroll compliance.
• Respond to requests for certified payroll documentation from contractors, owners, and government agencies.
• Stay current on prevailing wage requirements and assist in implementing changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Associate’s degree preferred
• 2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least 6 months of experience in payroll preferred
